GBIC TRANSCEIVER APPLICATIONS

Optocom offers Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) transceivers for Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and SONET/ SDH applications. The GBIC transceiver is hot pluggable and supports shortwave and longwave optical transmission with data rates up to 2.5 Gbps.

Gigabit Ethernet/ 1x Fibre Channel GBIC Transceiver Applications (1.25 Gbps)

Optocom’s GBIC transceivers for Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications offer short and long reach options over multimode or singlemode fibre. GBIC transceivers utilize an SC connector, employ 850 Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL), 1310 Fabry-Perot (FP) lasers, 1310 or 1550 Distributed Feedback (DFB) lasers, or CWDM lasers and provide Digital Diagnostic Monitoring capabilities at a data rate of 1.25 Gb/s.

Optocom’s GBIC transceivers for SONET OC-48/ SDH STM-16 applications offer short and intermediate reach options over singlemode fibre. GBIC transceivers utilize an SC connector, employ 1310 Fabry-Perot (FP) lasers, or 1310 Distributed Feedback (DFB) lasers at a data rate of 2.5 Gb/s.
